The Nepal men’s national cricket team represents the country in international cricket under the Cricket Association of Nepal. They gained T20I status in 2014 and ODI status in 2018, competing in ICC events and qualifiers. The team plays at TU and Mulpani Cricket Grounds and is made up of both experienced and new players. They are known as the “Rhinos” and “Cardiac Kids.” They are helping Nepal become more well–known in world cricket.

Competitive Record: ODI and T20I Performances

As of November 5, 2025, Nepal has played 81 ODI matches. Out of these, the team recorded 38 wins, 40 losses, 1 tie, and 2 matches with no result. In T20I cricket, Nepal played 112 matches, achieving 65 wins, 41 losses, 3 ties, and 3 no–result games.

According to the ICC rankings on November 1, 2025, Nepal holds the 17th position in both ODI and T20I formats. The team has participated in ICC World Cup qualifying tournaments but has not yet qualified for any final Cricket World Cup tournaments in ODI. But they still play in regional and global qualifiers to move up the rankings and get better at playing against better cricketing countries.

These numbers show how the team has done in competitions over the years. The Nepal national cricket team still plays international cricket and takes part in ICC–sanctioned events and regional competitions on a regular basis. The record shows that the team is getting better over time and is becoming more well–known in the world of cricket.

Home Grounds and Team Infrastructure

Nepal’s main cricket venues include TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Kathmandu, and Mulpani Cricket Ground in Mulpani, Kathmandu. Both grounds are approved to host One Day International (ODI) matches and serve as home grounds for the national team.

TU Cricket Ground has a capacity of approximately 15,000 spectators. Mulpani Cricket Ground is also used for international and domestic matches, although some facilities are still under development or renovation. These stadiums provide essential infrastructure for international cricket matches and national tournaments.

ICC Status and Rankings

Nepal is an associate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC), and it also has the One Day International (ODI) status. The team belongs to the ICC Asia region. In world cricket rankings, Nepal keeps a middle position. In the latest numbers, Nepal stays 17th in both ODI and T20I formats. The highest place Nepal ever reached was 14th in ODI and 11th in T20I on 2 May 2019.

Because of ICC membership, Nepal can join many ICC events like the World Cup Qualifiers, the T20 World Cup, and other official tournaments. Nepal first played in the ICC World Cup Qualifier in 2001 and since that time took part four times. The best result was 8th place in 2018 and again in 2023.

Having ICC status also lets Nepal play with other Associate and Full Member teams in official matches. With this, Nepal receives official match records, rankings, and statistics that help the team get more respect in international cricket. The ODI and T20I status also allow the Cricket Association of Nepal to host international series at home grounds, which slowly improves local cricket facilities and gives players more experience.

Joining ICC events is very important for Nepal’s cricket. These tournaments give strong competition, wider exposure, and better chances to rise in rankings. Nepal keeps playing in many events to grow its level and become more trusted inside the global cricket community.

ODI and T20I Records

Nepal played its first ODI match against the Netherlands on 1 August 2018 at VRA Cricket Ground, Amstelveen. As of 5 November 2025, Nepal has played a total of 81 ODI matches. The record includes 38 wins, 40 losses, 1 tie, and 2 matches with no result.

In T20I cricket, Nepal played its first match against Hong Kong on 16 March 2014 at Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chittagong. Up to 17 October 2025, Nepal has participated in 112 T20I matches, winning 65 and losing 41, with 3 ties and 3 no–result games. These results show that Nepal has been steadily playing in international cricket, gaining more and more competitive experience.

Nepal has also played in a lot of ICC World Cup Qualifier tournaments, where they face stronger cricket countries. These games are great for getting players used to different situations and learning how to play. This experience helps them improve skills for the next competitions. Nepal’s ODI and T20I numbers show a team that is still developing, step by step moving forward on the international cricket level.

Home Grounds and Facilities

Nepal has two main cricket grounds: the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Kathmandu, and the Mulpani Cricket Ground in Mulpani, Kathmandu. Both places are known for hosting official ODI matches and other international games. The TU Ground can hold around 15,000 people, more or less.

These stadiums work like home grounds for the Nepal national team. Here they play international matches, regional tournaments, and also many domestic games. Other smaller grounds in Nepal are used for training, youth practice, and preparing teams for future international events. The infrastructure is still growing, but these grounds give important support for cricket in the country.

The Cricket Association of Nepal takes care of scheduling and looking after these grounds. They try to follow ICC rules so Nepal can host international matches without problems. Having these home grounds helps Nepal organize domestic series and invite foreign teams, which makes cricket development go forward in the country.
