- The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has signed an exclusive
ten years Sports Management and Marketing contract with Percept
D'Mark (PDM), India. On the occasion of signing ceremony PDM has
ensure that Nepal hosts international cricketing events and will
also bring the international cricket heroes to Nepal. In the coming
years Nepal will host various official and other concept events,
all aimed at making Nepal an international cricket destination.
The neutral status of Nepal along with the ideal weather conditions
and natural scenic beauty besides a host of other attractions make
the venue and future very promising. This will not only help raise
the level of the sport but will also help increase "Sports
Tourism".
Mr JK Shah, President CAN, on the occasion welcomed Percept D'Mark
and said "The dream of every member of CAN is to see test playing
countries compete with each other in Nepal and also to play ODIs
in 2007. I do sincerely hope our agreement will not remain an agreement
but will become a reality."
Mr BR Pandey, Hony Secretary CAN, reiterated "The recent track
record of the Nepal Cricket Team speaks volumes of the strides the
sport has taken in recent years with the team making it to the finals
of the ACC Trophy in Singapore which has promoted them to play ASIA
CUP with the cricketing gaints of Asia such as India, Pakistan,
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.With this new phase of cricket development
the Association with PDM will establish the game further in Nepal
and help it in its road to achieve one-day status and promote Nepal
as a tourist destination in the near future."
Mr S Lal, CEO & Executive Director, PDM said " I am happy
to introduce India's No 1 Entertainment Company to Nepal. With a
core competence in Cricket, besides Film and Non-film based entertainment,
PDM will bring in all its expertise and contacts to promote the
sport of Cricket in Nepal. Cricket in Nepal is a top priority for

cricket tournaments every year.
CAN is committed to develop cricket in the kingdom of Nepal. Starting
to develop a good cricketing facilities in Kathmandu, CAN has planned
to develop infrastructures in other parts of Nepal as well. The
potential of Nepalese Cricketers and growing popularity of sports
and supports definitely raise the cricketing heights in Nepal.
